As an Embryologist, Joni was responsible for the first babies born in the United States resulting from vitrified human oocytes (2003), an accomplishment which received worldwide media attention. Ms. Stehlik has built and directed many laboratories here in the U.S., and has traveled the world teaching vitrification technology. She is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART), Association of Bioanalysts (AAB), College of American Pathologists (CAP), and an Inspector and Team Member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).
Joni Stehlik graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. While completing her undergraduate program, she participated in one of the first work study programs as a Molecular Biologist. Prior to becoming an Embryologist in 1991, Ms. Stehlik had worked in cytogenetics and cell/molecular biology. She continued her education in 2003, acquiring a degree in Computer Science, and later attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison’s PhD program in Genetics where she studied genetic senescence of oocytes.
