Dr. Beth Hartog
Reproductive Endocrinologist
Dr. Beth Hartog is a board certified fertility doctor who enjoys a prominent national reputation in reproductive endocrinology. She has been in practice for 29 years, with 35 years of experience including training.
She was certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Obstetrics & Gynecology in 1999 and in the subspecialty of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in 2003. She was one of only 64 women in the United States board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in 2003, against 334 men; today, the figures are 350 women and 422 men. She is frequently published in top nationally recognized publications, including The Endocrinologist, British Journal of Cancer, Annual Meeting of ASRM, Fertility and Sterility and the World Congress on IVF and Human Reproductive Genetics.

She was an attending physician at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center from 2014 until its closure in 2025, and remains affiliated with the Mount Sinai Health System.
Dr. Hartog attended Wheaton College ('81) where she received a BA in Biology. She later received her M.S. in Human Nutrition from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons (1986), and her MD from New York Medical College ('91). She subsequently completed her graduate medical training residency and Chief residency in OB/GYN at the Albert Einstein Medical Center / Long Island Jewish Medical Center and completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at The George Washington University Medical Center.
Dr. Hartog's work has extended to various academic appointments. She was an Adjunct Scientist at the National Institutes of Health in Child and Human Development from 1996 to 1999. She served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The George Washington University from 1997 to 2002 and as Director of IVF Programs from July 1997 to December 2002, where she distinguished herself as one of the preeminent clinicians in reproductive medicine in the Washington, DC area, recognized repeatedly by her peers and patients alike. During this time Dr. Hartog developed a pre-conceptual counseling program, donor egg program and surrogacy program at GWU, and was a lead scientist and author on embryo implantation blastocyst clinical research. She later served as Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Vermont Medical School and as Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dartmouth Medical School, both from 2003 to 2011.
Before co-founding Chelsea Fertility, Dr. Hartog practiced at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME as Director of the Infertility Service and Division of REI from 2003 to 2009. In 2004, she established, designed and developed the first IVF program in Maine. Within a year of opening, the successful program was the largest in northern New England, serving the tri-state area of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Dr. Hartog is consistently acclaimed for her ability to mentor and facilitate learners at the medical student, resident and fellowship faculty level.
Dr. Hartog is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (F.A.C.O.G.) and a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology, the Endocrine Society, and the New England Fertility Society. She is licensed to practice medicine in New York, New Jersey, Maine, Washington, D.C., Maryland, Massachusetts, Virginia and Pennsylvania. She is known for her extensive knowledge and experience with ovulation induction, fertility drugs, assisted reproduction, third party reproduction, male factor, ICSI, pre-implantation genetic diagnosis, repetitive pregnancy loss, poor ovarian reserve, and fertility treatments in the older woman, as well as hysteroscopic surgery for reproductive issues.
Dr. Hartog and her husband, Rick Calve have three children. They enjoy equestrian events with their oldest daughter, as well as gymnastic meets and spending time at the dance studio with their twins. Dr. Hartog loves all waterfront activities, and spending time on the ski slopes.
