Serving Upper West Side Patients from Murray Hill

For Upper West Side patients, the honest starting point is the crosstown problem — and it is a bigger problem here than in Chelsea. Chelsea can at least ride the crosstown bus or take the 6 one stop after a short walk. From the Upper West Side there is no single-seat subway ride to our east-side office; every route involves a transfer, a bus, or both. That is worth weighing before committing to a treatment cycle where the schedule assumes frequent visits.

    Every route involves a transfer

By subway, the most common route is the 1/2/3 down the West Side to Times Square–42nd Street, transfer to the S shuttle or 7 across to Grand Central, then walk five blocks south on Park to 37th. Alternatively, the B or D from the West Side down to 34th Street–Herald Square, then a crosstown walk east to Park. Either way, plan on thirty to forty-five minutes door to door depending on where you start.

By bus, the M79 SBS or M86 SBS crosstown to the East Side and a transfer to the 6 downtown is realistic in the middle of the day but slow at rush hour. A car service across the park is often the most predictable option for an early-morning monitoring visit, and many Upper West Side patients simply plan on it during a cycle.
